Photo Credit: Kaiser Permanente  9th Annual Barbara Walker Trails Fair and Symposium: “Trails, Access and Inclusion: Planning and Building a System for All” Coordinated by Metro, The Intertwine Alliance and PBOT 12:30-1 pm – Check-in and networking 1 pm – Formal program begins 4-6 pm – No-host reception Free event Space is limited, so please register. This year’s Barbara Walker Trails Fair and Symposium will be a chance for learning, sharing ideas and connecting. Moving to more of a symposium framework, the afternoon will offer some unique speakers and sessions that will include: Keynote speaker Pamela Slaughter, founder of People of Color Outdoors A second keynote by Mychal Tetteh, Programs Section Manager at the Portland Bureau of Transportation and former Executive Director of the Community Cycling Center, entitled Urban Connectivity: Environmental Intersectionality and a Shared Imperative A panel of community leaders talking about the connection and disconnection marginalized communities have around participation in our trails systems There will also be a chance for attendees to briefly talk about some of their successes around equity and inclusion work, so come prepared to share your stories with the larger group. To celebrate, at the conclusion of the formal program, we will gather at a nearby establishment for a no-host reception and a chance to do additional networking. We hope you all come early, as well, to connect before we begin at 1 pm. Please bring materials to share with others, as we will have tables for brochures, pamphlets and any other promotional items you’d like to share with everyone. We are excited to bring our community together for this annual effort.  For more information contact: David Cohen, Event Coordinator – dcohen621@gmail.com Mel Huie, Metro – mel.huie@oregonmetro.gov Warren Jimenez, The Intertwine Alliance – warren@theintertwine.org
