The Black Keys, three time GRAMMY® Award winners and MTV Video Music Award recipients, have recently announced they will be going on tour in support of the release of their newest album El Camino. The first leg of their North American tour beginning March 2 in Cincinnati, features sold-out shows at Chicago’s United Center, DC’s Verizon Center, two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York and a stop at the Rose Garden on May 7, 2012.

In May 2010, The Black Keys released their breakthrough album, Brothers, which included the hit singles “Tighten Up” and “Howlin’ for You”, and was featured in the recent film Limitless and a theme song for the Toronto Blue Jays 2011 advertising. The album has gone on to be certified Gold in the U.S. and U.K., and went Platinum in Canada, with sales hitting nearly one million and counting. More recently, the band has been featured twice on Saturday Night Live, Colbert Report, and the Late Show with David Letterman.

Their newest album El Camino features more up-tempo tracks, which is a change from their Brothers album. “This is the first record we’ve made where it’s all rock & roll. I’ve never been into guitar solos. I really like when every instrument in the band is a rhythm instrument. This record has a lot of that going on—guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards all working together as a rhythm instrument. But unlike Brothers, which has more of these slower songs with an open feeling, [the new LP] is definitely fast ” said drummer Patrick Carney.

The Rolling Stone has already placed the band’s album El Camino in the top 50 albums of 2011 ranking them at number 12. “Sometimes, a CD scratches an itch you didn’t even know you had, and El Caminos that record…It’s a summer record released in the winter, a dance record that just happens to rock…It’s a party record, a driving down the highway, ‘I’m in love with rock and roll, and I’ll be out all night’s record…Really, the only question is whether, this late in the year, this constitutes the best rock album of 2011 or 2012. It’ll probably be both.” – Los Angeles Times

The Arctic Monkeys will be appearing as special guest on the tour. The Arctic Monkeys are an English indie rock band recognized for having the fastest-selling debut album for a band in the UK. Popular classics that the band has produced include “Favourite Worst Nightmare”, which went straight to number one in album charts and brought them prestigious titles such as “Best New Artist” in the United States, “Album of the Year” in Japan, Ireland, and U.S., “Best British Band”, and “Best British Album”. The band’s newest release is “Suck it and See”, with popular hits “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I Moved Your Chair” and “Brick by Brick”. The band is currently taking a break from writing new music while on tour with The Black Keys, saying they prefer to focus all their energy on performing for their fans.

      Cost: $56.50, $46.50, $36.50
