      Drop-in Mindfulness Meditation Group

      Instructor: Emily Carpenter Class Description: This mindfulness meditation group is open to beginning and experienced meditators alike. Each group meeting will begin with a period of guided sitting and walking meditation, followed by a short talk by the instructor and time for discussion about practicing mindfulness in daily life.  This group typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. In April, the group will meet on the 17th and 24th, and it will resume meeting on the 2nd / 4th Wednesdays in May. Cost: The class is offered on a donation basis ~ RSVPs and walk-ins are both welcome.  Instructor Bio: Emily Carpenter has been practicing insight meditation since 1998. She was on staff at the Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts from 2009-2012 and now spends monthlong periods on silent retreat there each year. She has studied with Joseph Goldstein, Kamala Masters, and others, and is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leader program (CDL5) through Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California. She is also a former meditation coach with the 10% Happier meditation app. Emily lives in the Concordia neighborhood of Portland and most weekends, you’ll find her out hiking in the mountains somewhere.
